Louis was active in both local communities and international as well. He worked with international businesses to bring the much needed funding to promote viable business enterprises. He also worked to establish higher standards of living for the countries' people through increased employment opportunities, improved infrastructures, and improved health facilities and care for all of its citizens. Louis had a deep love and affection for people and used his keen knowledge, expertise and resources to initiate true "changes for the people", uplifting their quality of life and happiness of each individual was his goal. Louis was a truly gifted international leader with compassion that has touched many souls throughout this world - whether it be Ghana, Nigeria, Germany, Philippines, or any other host of countries. He has ALREADY made his mark! His legacy and work is continuing in his spirit. In the 1960's he wrote the original proposal for the National Congress of Puerto Rican Veterans. He helped establish the non-profit in order to administer funds to create outreach programs which were present wherever there was a Puerto Rican community in the Tri-State area. As the outreach officer he helped over 500,000 veterans gain access to benefits. Some years later, he worked for the Westchester Business Development Organization as a financial analyst. He worked under the U.S. Department of Commerce packaging loans. In 1976, he was elected to the White House Conference on small business appointed by Jimmy Carter. He was later awarded an Honorary Doctorate degree from the Universidad de las Americas for his Humanitarian efforts. More recently, he was elected the National Chairman of the National veteran's Coalition in the support of Veteran issues. *** Special thanks to Mr. Steve Taracido for sharing important details of his life. Steve is one of Louie's best friends for many years.
